Position Overview

A school in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Special Education Teacher to join its team for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time position focuses on supporting 7th-grade students by providing individualized instruction, fostering academic growth, and creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that align with students' IEP goals and curriculum standards.
  • Provide engaging instruction tailored to the academic, social, and emotional needs of 7th-grade students.
  • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student success.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of academic and behavioral performance.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Implement appropriate classroom management strategies and positive behavioral supports.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize assessments and data to guide instructional planning and student interventions.
  • Maintain compliance with all special education regulations and school policies.
Qualifications
  • New York State Certification in Special Education is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching middle school students is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
