Position Overview
A growing apparel company is seeking an experienced Sales Account Executive with strong industry relationships and a proven background in wholesale apparel sales.
This role will focus on managing and growing established accounts while also opening new retail accounts and developing new business opportunities. The Sales Account Executive will sell existing line merchandise while working closely with retail buyers and the in-house design team to develop private-label programs tailored to customer needs.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and commercially minded salesperson who understands the apparel market, has established buyer relationships, and can combine strong sales skills with creativity and resourcefulness.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Account Management
Manage and grow relationships with established retail accounts.
Identify prospects and open new retail accounts for the company.
Present and sell men's, women's, and kids' apparel merchandise to retail buyers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and other business partners.
Identify opportunities to expand business within existing accounts.
Develop a strong understanding of each customer's business, product needs, and pricing requirements.
Consistently pursue new sales and revenue opportunities.
Private Label Development
Work closely with retail buyers to identify opportunities for private-label programs.
Partner with the in-house design team to develop products based on buyer needs, trends, price points, and retail opportunities.
Communicate buyer feedback and requirements to internal teams.
Help develop creative product solutions that meet both customer expectations and company objectives.
Follow private-label opportunities from initial concept through the sales and development process.
Pricing & Negotiations
Negotiate pricing, terms, discounts, and allowances within established company policies.
Understand customer margins and pricing requirements.
Apply a strong understanding of retail math, markup, markdowns, margins, and pricing when developing and negotiating business.
Troubleshoot account issues and respond quickly to changing customer needs.
Anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop solutions.
Internal & External Collaboration
Build effective working relationships with internal associates, retail buyers, and outside business partners.
Work closely with design and other internal departments to support customer programs.
Communicate account opportunities, buyer feedback, and market information to the appropriate teams.
Maintain organized account information, correspondence, pricing, and sales activity.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar apparel sales position.
Established relationships and experience within the apparel retail market strongly preferred.
