Part-Time Administrator - Jersey Shore Synagogue

Opportunity:
Jersey Shore Synagogue is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Administrator to play a vital role in the smooth and efficient operation of our synagogue. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with strong administrative skills to contribute to a vibrant and supportive community. The position offers flexibility and the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities:
As our Part-Time Administrator, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks, including:

Financial Administration:

  1. Performing light bookkeeping duties
  2. Managing collections processes
  3. Handling accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping
  4. Following up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of services and resolve any discrepancies

Facility Management Support:

  1. Coordinating social hall rentals and bookings, managing inquiries, contracts, and payments
  2. Manage our social media accounts
  3. Assisting with the coordination of building maintenance and repairs, acting as a point of contact for vendors and tracking progress

General Administrative Support:

  1. Providing general administrative support to synagogue leadership and staff
  2. Maintaining organized electronic and physical filing systems
  3. Assisting with correspondence, mailings, and other communication tasks
  4. Answering and directing phone calls professionally and courteously

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  1. Proven previous administrative experience in a professional setting
  2. Proficiency in QuickBooks for basic bookkeeping tasks
  3. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and friendly phone manner
  5. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  6. Strong understanding of social media marketing, in order to build up our presence
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently
  8. A proactive and problem-solving attitude
  9. Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity

Bonus Points:

  1. Experience with ShulCloud or other similar synagogue management software
  2. Familiarity with Jewish communal organizations and customs

Schedule and Compensation:
This is a part-time position with flexible hours, potentially allowing for a hybrid work arrangement. The specific schedule will be discussed during the interview process. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
